So summer is just starting to fade into Autumn and normal school and work life is resuming.
Our houses may be looking a little battle worn after hosting friends and family, encouraging a
more relaxed cleaning regime in between summer holidays.
This transition time can be a great opportunity to give our furniture a bit of spruce up.
Give the sofa a good clean, tackle those food or drinks marks that have appeared after a couple of social events, repair any chips or dents a few heavy suitcases passing by have caused or it could just be a good dust and polish!
The trick to keeping furniture looking smarter for longer is regular cleaning and maintenance. This also avoids having to clean all your furniture at once which is a major undertaking. This could be as simple as a regular wiping down, not just on the top surface but the doors, handles and any glass too. For your sofa regular vacuuming can simply make such a difference, cleaning those cracks and crevices, removing any cobwebs around the legs or dust that may have settled behind the cushions. You may even find a penny or two under the cushions when you vacuum under them!
Take a minute before tackling the Sofa
When it comes to cleaning the fabric it is always recommended to check the tags that come with your furniture for guidance on what detergents or cleaning products you can use.
W means: Use water-based detergent.
S means: Clean with a water-free product, like dry cleaning solvent.
WS means: Either a water-based cleaner or a water-free cleaner is appropriate.
X means: Professionally cleaning only, though feel free to vacuum it. Keep this is in mind when purchasing furniture.
If you want more peace of mind when it comes to the maintenance of your sofa or cabinetry then you can purchase our 5 year Furniture Protection Care Plan with Staingard.
This covers fabric and leather upholstery as well as dinning and cabinet furniture.
What is included?
This extensive plan essentially protects you for a comprehensive range of household accidents that can result in damage or staining of your furniture. This could be coffee or wine spillage, transfer of dye from your clothing or newspaper, children sticky and dirty fingers or maybe an accidental rip, tear of chip plug so many more!
You will get original value replacements and no excess charges either so if this is something of interest just mention it to one of our sales team and they will be happy to give you more information.
When choosing your sofa covering be mindful of how stain and mark resistant it is. A statement sleek sofa in cream leather may looking stunning in your room but if you have small children, pets or accident prone family members who have regular contact with your pride and joy, you may want to re-think the scheme.
You could opt for a harder wearing woven fabric and keep the beautiful cream leather occasional chair in your bedroom instead, just for you!
