Interior Trends of 2020

Out with the old, in with the new….

The start of the new year is the perfect time to spruce up your home and introduce some new exciting furniture and accessories, experiment with new trends and have a good declutter!

Here we round up a few of the latest design trends for 2020

1. Colour of the year: Classic Blue

This year the colour experts Pantone have announced Classic Blue as the colour of the year for 2020. This bold, deep blue is said to ‘encourage us to look beyond the obvious, expand our thinking’ and ‘open the flow of communication’. To us this colour embodies calmness and confidence and brings to mind images of the night sky at dusk. It also helps that it’s an easy to integrate into your home through furniture and accessories in various materials and textures!

Here are a few of our favourites from Cookes that we think embody this colour beautifully!

2. Grandmillenial style

A new concept, this style is recognised as ‘traditional design with a twist’. Think mixing elements of classic design such as scallops, natural fibre rugs and topiaries with a contemporary edge such as modern art.

The final result = Granny Chic.

3. The Home Bar

You may have noticed recently a rise in the number of people investing in home-bars and choosing to stay in over going out. You might blame it on the cold weather, but this lifestyle trend is not going anywhere and the interest in home-bars is only growing more and more popular! We love the ease and versatility of a trendy bar cart and it’s the perfect alternative for those who don’t have the space for a fully kitted out bar. Mix in some pretty vintage glassware and fill up the ice bucket and your cocktail evening can begin!

4. Curved Sofas

You’ve heard the saying ‘what goes around comes back around’ and that’s certainly true with this interior trend. Reminiscent of the 80’s, curved sofas in gorgeous rich velvets will transport you straight back in time whilst making a glamourous statement in your home.

5. Japandi

The Japandi is a new hybrid trend that blends elements of the popular Scandi/Nordic designs with traditional Japanese aesthetics. Think minimalism, rustic details and earthy colours such as tranquil greens and pinks mixed with dark woods. Add in luxurious silk textures and oriental patterns and the overall result is a calming environment with effortless simple beauty.

6. Free Standing Tubs

For an on-trend bathroom consider investing in a stylish free-standing tub. These statement baths have been making a wave on social media not just for their stunning designs, but also because they are the perfect companion for winding down at the end of a stressful working week.

Check out the array of free-standing bath designs available at Ripples bathrooms in our Birmingham showroom.
