Cookes to Lead 76 Runners Across the Fun Run Finish Line

Cookes Fun Run Team

We’re delighted to announce our bumper team of runners who will be going the extra mile to raise money for local charities at this year’s Great Midlands Fun Run.

Our Midlands-based store, which is a main sponsor of the popular event, has rounded up a total of 76 runners to participate in the 8.5 mile event on Sunday 31 May 2015.

We will be raising vital funds, through sponsorship and in-store donations, for six charitable organisations and voluntary groups selected by Cookes within the Birmingham and Sutton Coldfield area. These include cancer charities Breast Friends, Cancer Support Centre (Sutton Coldfield) and Teenage Cancer Trust, as well as the League of Friends of John Taylor Hospice, The Norman Laud Association and adult learning centre, Sutton Support Services.

Cookes has been the main sponsor of the much-loved Great Midlands Fun Run since it began in 2003, helping to raise a grand total of £2.2 million over the years. Earlier this year, we hosted an early-bird registration event in-store at Edwards Restaurant for the first time in the Fun Run’s 13-year history to encourage more people to get involved.

Cookes Fun Run Team 2Vanessa Hoe, the marketing director here at Cookes, who will be taking part with her husband and three children, said: “We are always impressed with the enthusiasm shown by our staff and customers for this great event and have got an impressive team lined up for this year.

“The Fun Run always proves to be an enjoyable day out with family and friends, which is why we’ll have the team’s children, 10 buggies and even a dog in tow this year. We’re proud to be sponsoring it once again and hope to beat last year’s fundraising total to raise as much money as possible for the great work our selected charities do.”

The Great Midlands Fun Run takes place on Sunday 31 May 2015 with more than 7,000 runners signed up to take part. For more information go to www.greatmidlandsfunrun.com
